Lessons from Publishing Thousands of Stories

Publishing chose me in 2014 after publishing six of my own books and working with three different publishing houses. I surrendered.

Since then, I have had the privilege of publishing thousands of stories in over 400 books with authors from 25 countries. Every author I meet, every story I help bring to the world, reaffirms the power of sharing and preserving one’s legacy through the written word. It’s a testament to how individual narratives can collectively inspire, heal, and connect us.

Here are some profound lessons I’ve learned along this incredible journey:

Vulnerability Rocks!

The stories that resonate most are those that come from a place of vulnerability. It’s in the sharing of personal trials, failures, and triumphs that authors connect with their readers on a deeper level. Vulnerability is a bridge built on empathy, inviting others to cross over into your experiences and find solace, encouragement, or companionship.

Opening up isn’t always easy—it takes courage to reveal our true selves to the world. But it’s this very act of bravery that endears readers and leaves an indelible mark on their hearts. Vulnerable storytelling is not about oversharing, but about choosing honesty over perfection, and connection over isolation.

Your Timing is Divine Timing

I have worked with countless authors who question the timing of their book’s release. Some fear they’re too late, while others worry that they’re not ready. What I’ve continually observed is that each book’s publication aligns serendipitously with the author’s path.

There is a certain magic, or divine timing, to when a story is told. The stories that transform into books always seem to come forward at precisely the right moment, making each book’s release not only timely but necessary. Trust in the timing of your story—it will find its audience when both are ready.

Energy is Infused into Every Page of the Book

Books are more than just paper and ink or pixels on a screen; they are infused with energy. Each page carries with it the essence of the author—their passion, their struggles, and their hopes. You can actually feel this energy as you read a powerful story. It’s what makes you lose hours engrossed in a book and makes your heart race in anticipation or ache with sympathy.

This energy is not just metaphorical; it directly influences the reader’s experience and the impact your story will have. Being mindful of the energy you infuse into your writing will strengthen the connection between your words and your readers.

Everyone Wants to Create a Legacy

In the heart of every person lies a desire to be remembered, to leave a mark on the world that outlives their physical presence. Publishing a story is one of the most enduring ways to achieve this. It’s a profound realization that the words you write today can inspire, educate, or entertain someone long after you’re gone.

The lessons shared, the worlds built, and the characters birthed become part of your legacy. They are gifts of wisdom, imagination, and humanity passed down through generations, crafting a bridge that connects the past with the present and paves the way for the future.
