8 Secrets to Land on Your Dreams
Ever since I earned my pilot’s license, my perspective of dreams has shifted considerably, but how is the world of aviation related to accomplishing your dreams? I created a phrase that sums it up beautifully: “taking off is optional, landing on your dreams is mandatory,” just like the real world of aviation, once a plane takes off, it must land and an idea that takes off must land in manifestation.
Below, please find eight ways to get closer to the achievement of your dreams that have not landed yet. Take a moment to apply each of these as a pilot’s checklist for the best outcome.
1. HAVE A VISION.
Write it down, and you’re halfway there. Create a vision board with pictures and images that connect you with your dream.
2. BE COMMITTED.
The definition of commitment is: something that is important to you but
not urgent to the rest of the world. Break dreams down into steps. Put those steps into your calendar. Record your dreams and listen to yourself talking about your dreams.
3. MEDITATE.
I read once that if you can hold the thought of your dream for sixteen consecutive seconds times four—that’s a total of sixty-four seconds—then you will manifest that dream. The challenge is keeping the thought alive with life’s distractions and interruptions.
4. SHARE YOUR DREAMS WITH OTHERS.
If everybody knows where you are going, they will do everything they can to help you get there.
5. BE A DREAM ACCELERATOR.
Hey, it’s not just about you and me in this world. Add fuel to other people’s dreams too.
6. DON’T TAKE “NO” FOR AN ANSWER.
Be relentless about your dream. Do something every single day that gets you closer.
7. MAKE SOME NOISE.
Celebrate inside yourself, in your career and with your family. Breathe. You’re making your
dreams come alive!
8. TAKE IN THE MOMENT.
After the celebratory hoopla, take in the moment when your dream has actually arrived. Not there yet? Recognize milestones along the way. Stop, quiet yourself and wrap yourself in the beauty of having coming this far.
